Tadeusz Różewicz nominated for the Nobel Prize for Literature

We are delighted to have our Polish author Tadeusz Różewicz among the candidates for the 2012 Nobel Prize for Literature.

Tadeusz Różewicz (b. 1921) is Poland’s foremost living writer. Remarkable for his simultaneous mastery of poetry, prose and drama, he has been previously nominated for the Nobel Prize for Literature and has won many Polish and international awards for his work. A finalist for the 2003 Popescu Prize, the 2008 National Book Critics Award, and the 2012 Griffin Prize. In 2007 he was awarded the European Prize for Literature.

In spring 2013 we are publishing Różewicz’s Mother Departs, which won the Nike Prize 2000, Poland’s most prestigious literary award. Mother Departs is translated by Barbara Bogoczek.
